Legal data with support of machine-learning to provide customers with insights into policies, regulations and laws affecting their business decisions and customers.The company is founded on the principles of Policy Surveillance – the systematic, scientific tracking of laws of public significance.
Heidi has spent the last ten years as Deputy Director of the Center for Public Health Law Research where she helped build the research portfolio of the Center to several million and fourteen staff. As a statistician and quantitative methodologist she was responsible for the scientific “data” side of legal data. She is a trained quantitative methodologist and has served concurrently as Director of the Institute for Survey Research at Temple. Previously she was an Assistant Vice President for Research at Temple University where she oversaw large-scale research development and financial management of the research portfolio.
Scott Burris is a Professor of Law and Public Health at Temple University, where he directs the Center for Public Health Law Research. He work focuses on how law influences public health, and what interventions can make laws and law enforcement practices healthier in their effects. Professor Burris is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis (A.B.) and Yale Law School (J.D.).

Margaret S. Lee
Founding member Margaret S. Lee spent a decade in the Big Four accounting firms of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. She then established her own practice providing accounting and consulting services to medical practices. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BSBA (accounting).
VP of Operations
Elizabeth (Lizzy) is the project lead for all legal dataset projects, from conceptualization to publication. Lizzy brings over 5 years of experience in legal research and policy surveillance, specializing in prescription drug monitoring program laws. Lizzy is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and holds a JD from Syracuse University College of Law and an MAIR from the Maxwell School.
Ning is Lead Engineer of Legal Science. He is in charge of structural design for data, algorithm and platforms. Prior to Legal Science he worked in multi-agent communication systems and received his PhD in EE at Temple University. His research work is a hybrid approach in the fields of data mining and communication engineering, concentrating on algorithm optimization on data communication systems.
Senior Legal Research Associate
Caitlin is a Legal Research Associate at Legal Science, where she provides legal research services, including the creation and maintenance of legal datasets. While in law school Caitlin interned several times for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and represented the Department in administrative hearings. Caitlin received her law degree from Albany Law School and a B.S. in Natural Resources Management from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Senior Legal Research Associate
Alex is a Legal Research Associate for Legal Science. Prior to joining Legal Science, Alex spent five years serving as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Roxanne Covington in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas while maintaining a small private practice. There he oversaw the legal process and legal research for criminal and family court cases. Alex received a degree in Business Management and Finance from the University of Pittsburgh and Law Degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
